. q: how long have you been writing jinx?
. a: writing it? maybe two or three years. i can't exactly remember when i started putting it on paper (because jinx was originally a manga, and i was writing it as a script; afterwards i decided i wasn't good enough to draw it so i kept on writing and it became a novel). however, the version you're reading now was begun on october 2001.

. q: why "jinx version 2.0"?
. a: simple: the chapters online right now were completely rewritten. you see, i had started jinx a while ago and wrote it up to chapter forty, then i re-read it and found out it sucked deeply. so i started it over. :3 but the new version now has nothing to do with the old one. new characters (such as kosuke) completely changed the outcome of the story. and for a comparison, jinx version 1.0 was about one hundred and seventy pages long for forty chapters; the second version's first twenty chapters are spread on two hundred and fifty pages. go figure.

. q: what is all that "version 5.0" thing?
. a: right... there's never been five versions of jinx nor the site. the reason behind this is that in 2003, jinx turned five. :) and for the occasion, i did a new layout. but! i also decided to revamp jinx wholly. not now, mind you, but in the future, when i'll be done with the story itself, i'll tweak some things, namely the characters' names. you see, when i first created jinx, i was twelve, young and ignorant, and blindly gave japanese names to all my characters, while it doesn't make sense. now i feel guilty, and i want to change them. you can see the characters' new names and countries of origin on their profiles. now understand that i won't change the names in the story, i'll do it afterwards to avoid confusion.

. q: where the hell are you taking all your ideas?
. a: uh... heck, i don't know. they just come. sometimes when i'm writing (the best example is probably tomomi: she didn't exist at all when i started chapter ix, and then i decided she'd come in and mess things up a bit), sometimes when i'm watching movies. or listening to music. i guess you can say the "ambiance" helps a lot. if you're into writing, i suggest you find some good music fitting the mood of the part you're working on, and it should be easy. that's what i do. if inspiration still doesn't come, then it's because it's not the right song. :3

. q: how come the drainers and humans understand themselves?/why do the drainers speak english?
. a: that's a thing i forgot to mention in the story... the drainers don't speak english, and neither do the humans. they are all using a gaian dialect established by the elves in a forgotten past. when the humans moved in on gaia, they were forced to learn that foreign language to be able to communicate with the elves, otherwise they wouldn't be living there :)

. q: did you know that elves and cat girls are so clichéd it's not even funny?
. a: yes. >_>;; that's a thing i'm planning to fix in the near future. elves will most probably have a new name (like the drainers) and the tigerpeople... well, i'll see. check out three questions above.

. q: can i draw your characters?
. a: why the hell are you asking? of course! i'm dying to see other people's renditions of my little babies :) either send it to me or post it somewhere where i'll be able to see it... thank you so much! ;)

. "what the fuck?" you may ask. don't worry, you read right: this is the "freak show" section, where i'm showcasing the oldest jinx artwork possible; in other words, the five year-old character sheets. be careful, they are harmful for the eyes... and... pointy.

. if you survived the trip, then you'll maybe want to see this: it was supposed to be the manga's cover (but i gave up afterwards), but it's also the very first picture where the drainers appear. drainers, you say? look more closely: their ears are human! right: in the past, the drainers were in fact humans with magical powers. i have absolutely no idea how i ended up with people with long ears... maybe because i really wanted to make a difference between the good and the bad guys. notice also that yusuke and minako are non-existent. they arrived way after. :)
